Responsible for: o Reviewing and providing advice regarding the improvement and rationalisation of the existing Information Technology infrastructure. o Developing and implementing a refresh plan to rationalise and align the system to the organisations requirements. o Configuring and installing a consolidated CIFS server environment using Samba using RedHat Linux and a Sun D1000 StorEdge array configured with software RAID 5. o Installing and configuring of a Sun / Solaris mail and web server, based on sendmail and Apache web server, respectively. o Installing and configuring an ATL 4 / 52 automated robotic tape management system using Amanda backup running under RedHat Linux 9.0, and designing and implementing a comprehensive backup schedule. o Developing and implementing a migration plan from an MS Windows NT to MS Windows 2000 server environment; implementing Windows Active Directory (AD) service, whilst maintaining the legacy pre-AD environment. o Installing and configuring a choke/gate firewall architecture, using netfilter's iptables to establish the packet filtering and network address translation rules. The South Australian Government - Department for the Environment & Heritage Designing and managing the implementation of an agency wide consolidated hierarchical storage management (HSM) solution using Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) technologies. Responsible for: o Researching and reviewing latest storage technologies, such as SAN, NAS, FC-AL, iSCSI and FCIP. o Selecting vendor hardware that best met the agencies present and future term requirements. o Managing the implementation of a 4TB Sun StorEdge 6320 SAN with an L100 SDLT tape library. o Evaluating HSM technologies such as Sun Microsystems SAM-FS and QFS, Veritas NetBackup and Storage Migrator, and Legato's Networker and DiskXtender. The South Australian Government - Department for Administrative & Information Services Implementing integration and acceptance test, and a production environment for the Computer Assisted Valuation System. Responsible for: o Designing, configuring and technically supporting an integration and acceptance test environment. This environment is based on a distributed computing environment that is composed of two Sun servers, IBM's MQ-Series messaging middleware and the Oracle 7 RDBMS. o Commissioning of the corporate application into a production environment. o Authoring of build and installation documentation to be used by software release staff, and of operational documentation to be used by operations support staff. The South Australian Government - Department for Environment & Heritage System design and management of a multi-million dollar system migration of the South Australian Land Title Register from a legacy UNISYS mainframe to an Open Systems environment.
